Tevosol, Inc. is an Edmonton-based medical device company developing EVOSSTM (Ex-Vivo Organ Support System) to preserve, assess, and reclaim donor organs for transplant.
The EVOSS design follows nature to support the organ the way the body does. The simple idea is to present the surgeon a wholly functional organ, at normal body temperature, with complete vital signs, in a beautifully functional, portable, and affordable machine, about the size and weight of the ice cooler.
Our first indication is lung. EVOSS lungs breathe! Like yours are breathing right now, inhaling and exhaling under negative pressure, as the diaphragm and the chest walls contract and relax.
In routine use EVOSS for Lung promises to make a tremendous impact on the public health, multiplying the utilization of donor organs, safely expanding the time and distance between donor and recipient, and improving transplant outcomes.
Our clinician-scientist founders have invented and tested EVOSS right here in Alberta. In 2019 we completed a human safety trial, reclaiming 12 donor lungs that other surgeons had turned down and performing 12 successful transplants. FDA pivotal clinical trials and a Canadian commercial pilot are set to begin in 2020-21.
Tevosol is committed to keeping its research, development, engineering, manufacturing, and business operations in Edmonton and growing this Alberta business into a major global player in organ transplantation and regenerative medicine.
