Subsidy Available for Employee Training: Alberta-Canada Jobs Grant
The Alberta-Canada Jobs Grant is now open to provide funding to cover employee training. Up to $300,000 per employer per fiscal year is available to cover up to 2/3 of approved training costs (maximum $10,000 per employee per fiscal year.
There is no restriction placed on the kind of training, though it must provide a certificate of completion or accomplishment.
- Eligibility: All private and not-for-profit sector employers in Alberta.
- Eligible Trainees: New or existing employees that fill current or future job vacancies, who are Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or protected persons under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
- Training: Must be incremental, meaning that the training is in addition to the employer's regular operation training, and would not have taken place without the grant. Must be a minimum of 21 hours that starts within six months of approval and must be completed within 52 weeks of the start date.
