Background
The Western Innovation Initiative (WINN) is a $100M, five-year federal funding initiative that provides repayable contributions to SME’s located in Western Canada. SMEs in Western Canada may request up to $3.5M per project to commercialize the development of their technology-based products, processes and services. There is a maximum funding limit of $7.5M per recipient over the five-year period. WINN is an interest-free repayable contribution and is usually paid back over a five year period. WINN seeks to enhance Canada’s business advantages and encourage the private sector to bring new ideas to market.
