BioAlberta Speaker Series "Crowdfunding For Alberta Life Science Companies"

January 27th, 4:00 - 7:00pm
The Auditorium
Alberta Innovates Technology Futures
250 Karl Clark Road | Edmonton

On October 19th,  the Alberta Securities Commission issued a Notice of Publication and Request for Public Comment on a new regulatory change to cover crowdfunding for startups raising equity capital. This notice provides an excellent opportunity for a discussion of the new regulation, crowdfunding in general, and the relevance and appropriateness of crowdfunding as a capital source for Alberta life science companies.

To help with that conversation, BioAlberta will be dedicating a Speaker Series event to those topics. The Association has recruited a diverse panel to speak to how crowdfunding works, what benefits and risks there are, and how to judge whether it is worth pursuing for your company. A list of confirmed participants is below.

Introduction:

  • Denise Weeres, Manager, Legal, Corporate Finance, Alberta Securities Commission

Facilitator:

  • Neil Fassina, Provost & Vice President Academic, NAIT
