Mint Health + Drugs has achieved a model of success in ensuring it plays a strong leadership role for health in the communities it has been privileged to serve. Today, the company spans fourteen locations across ten diverse communities across Alberta. Each community is unique with its health needs. |
Mint Health + Drugs is a company that does not believe in a cookie-cutter, big-box store model approach to health. Being able to listen to the unique needs of the communities and curate an experience at the ground level has led to some incredible experiences for patients.
It is important to engage and listen to organizations vested in providing services to each community. Mint Health + Drugs, along with its sister Non-Profit, Mint Communities, has collaborative relationships with some of Alberta’s largest Non-Profit organizations. This collaborative approach has led to healthier outcomes for mutual clients. From serving the needs of inner city clients in Calgary and Edmonton with organizations like the Alex Community Health Centre and the Mustard Seed to helping those less fortunate find housing in Edmonton through the Bissell Centre and Homeward Trust, there are multiple channels in which Mint delivers stronger health care by recognizing and assisting with social needs along the way.
At the government level, 2018 has been a year where Mint Health + Drugs has achieved demonstration grant funding through Alberta Health and Alberta Health services (AHS) to its innovative pharmacist led outreach team project, the Adherence and Community Engagement (ACE) Team. Mint also participates in high level workgroups with AHS, in helping to shape provincial-level strategy in relation to sexually transmitted infections, like HIV and Hepatitis.
Mint Health + Drugs offers a diverse scale of services and programs to suit the needs of Albertans. All applicable pharmacists in the company have received advanced accreditation with the additional prescribing authority designation, allowing for initial access prescribing for many common ailments. This valuable service reduces strain on the healthcare system, including medical clinics and hospitals. Mint also offers one of the largest network of travel health immunization clinics across Alberta, fulfilling a demand in several communities that have limited access to such a service. Another area where Mint has been able to fulfill a gap in care is Medical cannabis support. Through medical cannabis education, strain selection and a holistic approach to treatment it has been able to further patient outcomes in an area where many health care professionals have limited knowledge.
In 2018, Mint Health + Drugs enjoyed success and recognition in the form of a top ten national nomination from the 2018 Grant Thornton Private Business Growth awards, for socially responsible business growth. It has also enjoyed industry recognition for three consecutive years as winners of APEX Awards from the Alberta College of Pharmacists and Pharmacists Association of Alberta for 2016, 2017 and 2018.
Mint Health + Drugs is proud to be serving the health needs of Albertans, and hopes to bring its brand of health and pharmacy care to more communities in the near future.
