General Intermediates of Canada Inc. (GIC) is an Edmonton-based company specializing in the production of batch quantities of organic bio-molecules for the pharmaceutical industry. With over 30 years of experience in the field, GIC serves a client base that includes many of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies, supplying them with high-quality chemical precursors for research into asthmatics, antivirals, chemotherapeutics and a wide range of other drugs.
Many of the custom molecules GIC produces are created through their proprietary halogenation reactions. GIC has developed methods that permit difficult halogenation reactions to take place at or near ambient temperatures and pressures where such reactions would not normally be possible. This permits the company to regularly use halogenation reactions, enabling the production of rare and difficult intermediates with comparative ease, using fewer steps and with less expense.
