Meet our newest member FREDsense Technologies, who have just won the Tech Showcase Perfect Pitch Prize, valued at over $30,000.
FREDsense is an early stage venture, focused on providing new biological ways to measure toxins in the environment. Their mission is to build better biosensors.
FREDsense Technologies was born out of the Calgary 2012 iGEM (International Genetically Engineered Machine) Project which developed a bacterial method to measure oil and gas toxins in a fast, and reliable way. Now, FREDsense works to develop biological solutions to monitoring and measuring water samples of any kind. Our early start-up company is based out of the Calgary area is looking at developing our first FRED (Field Ready Electrical Detector) for "General Toxin Sensing". This will provide a comprehensive testing solution to determining if there are any types of toxins within a water sample.
At iGEM 2013, FREDsense won Best Entrepreneurial Project in the world. iGEM is a prestigious synthetic biology competition. On Sept 11, 2014, the FREDsense won the Tech Showcase Perfect Pitch Prize, valued over $30,000.
