The Boosting Biotech initiative is a collaboration of BioAlberta, Innovative Medicines Canada, the Alberta Government, and Western Economic Diversification to support innovation and commercialization of discoveries by Alberta researchers and small and medium sized enterprises in the life sciences sector through experiential learning opportunities.
BioAlberta announced the second intake of the Boosting Biotech Internship program in collaboration with Innovative Medicines Canada, the Government of Alberta, Alberta post-secondary institutions, and BioTalent Canada in early October 2020.
In support of made-in-Alberta discoveries and our small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), the Boosting Biotech Internship program will match skilled Alberta students enrolled in an under-graduate, graduate or post-graduate degree program, to support a company’s operational needs.
The student assignments will provide them practical work in a field related to their studies within Alberta’s life sciences eco-system and will enable them to gain a better understanding of your company’s work in Alberta.
Internships are to begin January 2021 for a 16 week duration. The deadline to apply for funding by interested companies was October 23. Funding and recruitment to internship commitments are currently underway.
The Boosting Biotech Internship is unique in that 100 per cent funding is cost-shared between Innovative Medicines Canada and BioTalent Canada.
