Alberta Medical Device Companies Spend 48 Hours In Boston
From October 26-27, BioAlberta led a delegation of 10 Alberta medical device and diagnostic companies on a trade mission to Boston, Massachusetts. The trip provided Alberta companies with an introduction to one of the world's major hubs for medical device research, commercialization, and investment.
Participating companies included Tevosol, Kent Imaging, SafeTracks GPS, MagnetTx, Bonsai Beta, SolAeroMed, DriveABLE, Salu, 4th Quadrant Solutions, and Orpyx Medical Technologies.
October 26th began with a tour of the Canadian technology Accelerator, with an educational session on U.S. health law and regulatory compliance.
After that, it was on to the fast-paced pitch session, where companies had eight minutes to present their products and strategies to an expert panel of experienced medical device executives. On the panel were George Kenney, CEO of Entratympanic, Gary Bishop, Executive Vice President of Photonics at Dynasil Corporation, and Tani Chen, Counsel for Chemical and Material Technologies at Wolf Greenshield.
The pitch sessions were followed by a luncheon, a Venture Cafe, and a Canada-U.S. MedTech Networking Reception & Dinner hosted by the Canada Consulate in Boston, during which each company was able to make a presentation.
October 28th saw the Alberta delegation at the MassMEDIC MEDTECH Showcase, which gave them additional opportunities to pitch their companies and network with industry.
BioAlberta thanks the Canadian Consulate in Boston, the Canadian Technology Accelerator, and the mission's sponsor, the Alberta Enterprise Corporation. BioAlberta also wishes to thank TEC Edmonton for organizing the Boot Camp that prepared companies to pitch in Boston
