BioAlberta Medical Product Development Program (MPDP)

This round of MPDP is now closed. Applications are no longer being accepted. Please check back in Spring 2010 for information on MPDP's next project round.

About the Program

The Medical Product Development Program (MPDP) is administered by BioAlberta and jointly funded by the Governments of Canada and Alberta through the Canada-Alberta Western Economic Partnership Agreement. The MPDP helps Alberta companies develop and commercialize new medical devices and applications.

The MPDP funds approved early-stage medical product development projects on a 3-1 basis. For every three program dollars, participating companies contribute one dollar to the total project budget. On a $100,000 project for example, MPDP would contribute $75,000 and the company would contribute $25,000.

An external expert review panel will approve and allocate the total pool of funds to a select group of projects with total project budgets that may range from $25,000 to a maximum of $100,000.

MPDP Round 1 has a total of approximately $200,000 available for project funding.
