Committees

BioAlberta has a number of volunteer committees to ensure that members drive the issues, programming and initiatives that BioAlberta needs to focus on to support the Alberta life science community. BioAlberta committees are led by volunteer chairs who are member companies’ employees. These committees offer great opportunities to play a direct role in developing solutions to the challenges faced by Alberta’s life science community. 

Partnering Committee

The Partnering Committee plays a direct role in developing solutions to the challenges faced by Alberta’s biotech community in their business development endeavors.   It plans and facilitates initiatives to assist Alberta Biotech companies to contact and effectively connect with potential 'Big Pharma' partners, buyers, and sources of financing. The ultimate goal is to create activities and programs that can help make the appropriate connections. Policy Committee

BioAlberta works with policymakers at all levels to promote coordinated approach to setting public policy initiatives and ensure life science industries critical issues are well represented. BioAlberta Government Relations Committee predominantly focuses on legislative and regulatory policy at the provincial level; however, it does work with partner life science organizations across the country to ensure that federal regulatory issues are also supported. Priority activities include coverage of critical legislation & regulatory policy, educating public officials about biotechnology, engendering a supportive research policy, encouraging greater support for life science entrepreneurship, and simplifying the regulatory environment, among other issues. Our Government Relations Committee is divided into subcommittees to answer the unique needs of each of the life science subsectors.  More info...

BIO Committee

The BIO Committee determines all the aspects of Alberta’s presence at the annual BIO convention. This committee coordinates and selects all the promotional and marketing initiatives for this key annual event. The committee meets once a month between November and May.  More info...

World Congress On Industrial Biotechnology & Bioprocessing Committee

World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology and Bioprocessing Committee determines all the aspects of Alberta’s presence at the annual convention. This committee coordinates and selects all the promotional and marketing initiatives for this key annual event. The committee meets once a month between March and July.  More info...

Program Committee  ...Commencing Soon

The Program Committee determines the subject matter and expertise of most interest to BioAlberta members and the life science community at large to ensure relevant year-round programming.  This committee organizes and facilitates educational seminars that provide a forum for members of the life science business community to learn and network with their peers.  More info...
